As the sports community shifts out of football season, March madness creeps in, NBA playoffs on its heels, and baseball season is close behind. And with the NBA trade deadline, there were some wild trades that went down.
The more prominent trades were: Tobias Harris and Jonathon Simmons to the 76ers, Orlando got Markelle Fultz, Mavs acquired Kristaps Porzingis, and Milwaukee got their 3pt threat Nikola Mirotic. As shocking, questionable, and exciting as the trades were for most of the league, none of these trades included Pelicans, Anthony Davis. The Lakers showed an early interest in acquiring AD to come play with Lebron. However, the Pelicans had some outrageous requests to actually relocate AD to the Lakers. This offer included at least 6 draft picks and a plethora of Lakers players (Kuzma, Lonzo, Ingram, etc.) Not to discredit Anthony Davis abilities, but he was clearly not worth that kind of offer. The Pelicans were not settling easily so the Lakers declined the offer. Then rumors later arose that the Pelicans never really intended on trading AD, but trade talks between the two organizations appreared to wreak havoc within the Lakers team.

You can’t blame the players for being suspicious; Harrison Barnes from the Dallas Mavs had been playing in a game when he was notified he had just been traded to the Sacramento Kings. Half the excitement in following professional basketball is just the ruthless nature of the league. Not that it was respectable by any means, the trade should’ve been announced after the game.
Hoping that the Magic give Fultz a fair chance, who often let go of developing players like Vic Oladipo who became a star with the Indiana Pacers; Side note that Elfrid Payton was a big loss just wait until he matures as a player. It would be a shame to not give Fultz the benefit of the doubt. Good luck to Fultz with his shoulder as well; Orlando Magic fans are brutal.
On the more opininated aspect, how about Houston Rockets player, James Harden? There’s current discussion regarding if he is a better overall player than Lebron. Even worse questioning if Harden is the GOAT after 31 straight games scoring 30 points per game. No doubt it’s highly impressive, but this isn’t playoff Harden. James Harden plays a heavy role as a shooting asset (and flopping) in the regular season but is nonexistent in the post season. Those flashbacks to the Rockets playoff Game 6 against San Antonio… YIKES. And while Russell Westbrook is in his own separate category with 11 straight triple doubles, to be thrown into to GOAT conversation is insulting to the GOAT contestants. To quote Michael Jordan when he was questioned about it, “… 6 championships by all means.”. That statement is signed, sealed, and delivered thank you MJ for reminding everyone.
“Some people want it to hapoen, some wish it would happen, others make it happen.” -Michael Jordan
